Dr. Kamini
MBBS, DGO, Diploma in Child Health (DCH), MRCOG(UK), FRCOG (UK)A recipient of the Padmashri, Dr. Kamini is a pioneer of the assisted reproduction fraternity in India. She is currently serving as the President of the Indian Society for Assisted Reproduction. She is the founder of “Milann”, formerly known as BACC Healthcare, which is among the established and leading brand of fertility chains in the country. The Centre is widely recognized for its high standards of clinical quality, medical expertise, excellent patient care & success rates, which is in par with the global standards.
With a vision to build more talent in reproductive medicine in the country, she had set up the education vertical, affiliated to BACC Healthcare. Today, it is among the premier institutions for education and training in Reproductive Medicine both for clinicians and embryologists. Alumni from this institute form the backbone of many of the leading IVF centers of the country. Dr. Kamini Rao being academically oriented, has authored nearly 50 medical textbooks and many journal and chapter publications.
Dr. Kamini Rao served as President of the All-India Federation of Obstetric and Gynaecological Societies (FOGSI) in the year 2000 as well as the President of the Indian Society for Assisted Reproduction between 2006 and 2008. She has the distinction of simultaneously serving as the FOGSI representative to the International Federation of Obstetrics & Gynecology and the Asia Oceana Federation of Obstetrics & Gynecology.
She has served as a Member of the Central Supervisory Board, Govt. of India (GOI) for implementation of the Prenatal Diagnostic Techniques (PNDT) Act, Member, and National Apex Committee for Stem Cell Research and Therapy and as Member of the drafting committee for formulating National Guidelines for “Accreditation, Supervision and Regulation of ART Clinics in India”
She is also a champion for the cause of women be it Safe Abortion, Female Feticide or Women’s Sexual & Reproductive Rights with the aim of improving the quality of life and the status of women in society. She has been honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Indian Society for Assisted Reproduction and the Federation of Obstetric & Gynecological Societies of India and recognized as one of the foremost Women Obstetricians/Gynaecologists by the International Federation of Obstetrics & Gynecology. Dr. Kamini Rao has also been awarded the Honorary PhD from Bangalore University by Vice President of India.
