Dr. Monika Prabhakar Group Head - Lab Operations (National & International)

Dr. Monika Prabhakar is the Group Head – Lab Operations at Metropolis Healthcare Limited. With over 29 years of distinguished experience in Laboratory Medicine, she brings deep scientific expertise and strong operational leadership. An MD in Pathology and a Gold Medalist from Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, her career reflects a sustained commitment to clinical excellence and quality.

Dr. Monika has held senior roles across some of India’s leading diagnostic institutions, where she successfully established advanced laboratory infrastructure, strengthened quality systems, and optimised complex operational processes. She also led the complete setup and launch of COVID-19 RT-PCR testing services during the pandemic—an intensive, high-impact initiative requiring precision, agility, and seamless coordination.

Before joining Metropolis, she served as Director – Laboratory Management & Operational Excellence at Dr. Lal PathLabs, overseeing the Kolkata Reference Lab and an extensive network of satellite labs across East India. Her leadership was instrumental in elevating quality benchmarks, improving operational efficiency, and enhancing service delivery outcomes.

A respected voice in the pathology community, Dr. Monika is an active member of the College of American Pathologists (CAP) and the Indian Association of Pathologists and Microbiologists (IAPM). Her continuous pursuit of advanced training in molecular diagnostics, quality systems, and leadership—both in India and globally—gives her a broad and contemporary outlook on laboratory best practices.

At Metropolis, she leads Lab Operations across national and international locations, driving operational excellence, standardising quality practices, strengthening technical capabilities, and fostering innovation across the lab network. Her strategic vision and clinical depth are integral to advancing Metropolis’ commitment to scientific leadership, diagnostic accuracy, and patient-centric care.
