Dr. Smita Sudke Hiras, is a Pathologist with a career spanning over two decades working in both public and private sector and experience of leading diagnostic centers of diverse scale starting from local, regional, national to global reference laboratories including Vijaya Diagnostics, Dr. Lal Path Labs, Neuberg Diagnostics and Apollo Diagnostics. ▪ She started her career as a pathologist and blood bank officer in a District Hospital in Maharashtra and headed the Hospital Infection Management Committee for 6 years. She has been involved in Laboratory services, management, and quality control. ▪ She is an empanelled technical & lead assessor with NABL, with extensive expertise in Quality control, Quality assurance, QMS and is trained in Haematology, flow cytometry, molecular biology, maternal & new-born screening with clinical pathology. ▪ As an external assessor for FIND, she was involved in assessment of Nodal TB centres across India for strengthening the facilities to prevent airborne infection & contributed in the “TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan”. ▪ An alumnus of the prestigious BJ Medical College Pune, she is one of the very few Indian pathologists who have worked in the field of forensic medicine. ▪ She has participated in national forums as a panelist & speaker organised by eLets, PerkinElmer & Ortho clinical diagnostics on various topics like lab automation, maternal & newborn screening etc ▪ She is Life member of IMA, IAPM, ISHTM, HAP & TPA with certifications in lean six sigma yellow belt, lab informatics, & implementation of NABH standards."
